Monday Mommy Guilt Mantra

By my own admission, I use quotes as mantras to get me thru my mothering and the otherings I do in my life. I also have a tendency to have "theme songs." Remember when Dateline NBC had the "Dateline Timeline?" I could Name That Year in three notes. A certain song can just grab me and take me back, much like other people can get a whiff of a certain scent and that sparks a memory.
Recently I came across a blog called My Wombinations and lo and behold there was a song that was too good not to share here at Parentopia. I asked the writer for permission to post the song here. Next time your Mommy Guilt has gotten you down and you need a way to leave it behind, get soulful!
The Mama Blues (Sung to the Tune of "I want a Little Sugar in My Bowl")
I want less mom guilt
in my soul
I want a little reprieve
from its hold
I could stand some freedom
oh so bad
Nothing is enough's so sad
I wish the napping
I crave for you
was not such a horrible
thing to do
whatsa matter baby
I only have two arms
can't you turn on some
of that baby charm?
Well I want a little less mom guilt
in my soul
Well I want a little reprieve from its hold
You need some alone time, yes its true
I only want the very best for you
"Hold me, Mommy," you always say
And rarely in the nicest way
I want less mom guilt
in my soul
I want a little reprieve
from its hold
Maybe I will feel this way until I'm old
Whatsa matter baby
I only have two arms
Let me have 10 minutes of your charm
I ain't foolin
Give me a reprieve--yeah
pretty please.
Now tell us some of the songs that get you going as a parent because my Monday Mantra is "Nobody leaves this place without singing the Blues." and if Grover can do it, so can you!
