We pity the fool who doesn't have April Fool fun with the family

Son One set our clocks an hour ahead. If you are like me-need java in the morning before you are even remotely able to formulate a sentence-then you know I am a total suckah. I woke up, took a look at the clock and puzzled as to why my kids let me sleep in on a weekday.

I walked into Son One's room. No one there.

I went to Son Two's room and there on the bed was a note written by Son One:

"Dear Mom, Son Two and I have walked to school. Don't worry about us, we'll be fine. It's not a long walk, just a couple of miles. Maybe a stranger will pick us up and give us a ride. Love, Son One and Son Two"

Now that part I realized was a joke. When I walked downstairs I had two children leaping up at me from behind chairs yelling, "Happy April Fools Day!"

Did you prank your kids? Did they prank you? Did someone else get you?

haha, cute. The note was a nice touch. My 7yo hasn't figured out how to come up with anything original yet. However, I got him this year using this: http://familyfun.go.com/recipes/special/feature/famf0303_feat_cheese/

It was supposed to be lunch, but I didn't have a chance to prep it without him seeing before school, so he bought and I packed a picnic lunch for dinner that we ate on the playground. First bite: What kind of bread is this? Second: This bread kind of tastes like cake. Angel cake. Third: It's too big for my mouth! *squish* This cheese is funny. Fourth: Wait, this isn't cheese, it's icing. It's icing and cake! Mom, you made me an icing and cake sandwich! Mmmm... this is the best day of my life.

Even though I am not a fan of April Fool's Day, I must admit that that is a very good joke. Your kids sound great!

Did you see the recent article in one of the British papers about "Idle Parenting"? I don't know how to link in the comments, but you can find the link over at my blog (just search on "idle parent") - I think you guys will love it.

Found you at DCMetro Moms...
